Light Panel bar can be placed at the screen top or screen bottom above the Windows® taskbar. When the program bar is not needed it may be hidden into a thin bar, and once you need it just move mouse over the bar or click on it (this behaviour depends on Light Panel settings). Thin bar will expand to its full size.
It is possible to set any background omage for Light Panel bar (file ".bmp").
Light Panel bar consists of three areas: group menu area at the left-hand side of the Light Panel bar, menu buttons area (at the top of the program bar) and fast links area (below the menu buttons).
Group menu is a set of buttons corresponding to groups of fast links. To quick create a group right mouse click on existing group button and choose "Create new group" from the pop-up menu. A prompt for name of the new group will appear.
Every Menu button is destined for exploring any folder on your computer as a multi-item menu. This works like the Windows' Start menu.
Fast links are links to your favorite programs, shorcuts, documents or URLs that you place on Light Panel. Once you drag any file from an explorer window and then drop it on to the Light Panel bar, you will see an icon representing the dropped file. Clicking on the icon will run linked program or, if it is a document, open it in it's associated program. It is also possible to drag a folder onto the bar. When you drag and drop a folder on to the Light Panel bar, a dialog appears where you have to tell the program what do you want to create: a menu button or a fast link. If you choose "menu button", then you have to enter its' name at the next dialog. If you choose "fast link", then an icon with the name of dropped folder will appear on the Light Panel bar. Clicking on this icon will open explorer at the selected folder.
Groups, Menu buttons and Fast links can be created also from the Light Panel Configuration Dialog.
The program allows you to have unlimited number of fast links. Number of menu buttons depends on width of the screen. It is possible to give any name to any folder button or item icon and reorder them.
Any background bitmap can be assigned to the Light Panel bar.
